IMPLEMENTATION OF THE AGENDA 21 AND PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE SR

The author reflects on implementation or, better to say, non-implementation of the Agenda 21 in the SR and the principles of sustainable development in practice. He brings several opinions (sectional, regional, economic, social, legal and educational) on this issue. He reminds documents supporting ideas of the sustainable development, such as the National Environmental Action Programme 1 and suggests activities and methods for the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the SR. It should be stressed that the Slovak Republic, as one of the first countries in the world, has defined the sustainable development on 5 December 1991 already by the Law No. 17/1992 Coll.
