AWARDS OF THE MINISTER OF THE ENVIRONMENT 

On the occasion of the World Environment Day (5 June), the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic decided to esteem outstanding achievements and contributions in the care of the environment. Seven Awards of the Minister of the Environment have been presented this year. In the category ”Towns and Villages” to Jamník (for the activities of the village’s citizens focused on the improvement of the villages environment) and to Spišská Nová Ves (for the environmental policy of the town and for the systematic approach in the environmental protection and improvement). In the category ”Companies” the award was presented to Chemolak a.s. Smolenice (for the ecological performance of the company) and in the category ”Civil Associations” to the Oblazy Community Foundation in the village of Kvačany (for the improvement of the quality of life of the village’s citizens and for the support of the sustainable development). In the category ”Individuals or Teams” three awards were granted: to the collective of authors of the Geochemical Atlases of the SR (for the series of Geochemical Atlases of the SR), to the collective of the 8th class of the Primary School in Bobrov (for the outstanding achievements in the field of the environmental protection) and to Pavel Grecula, the director of the State Geological Institute of Dionýz Štúr (for the long-standing activities, high quality of work and solving of topical environmental issues in the field of geology).
