Workers of the SEA´s Centre for Spatial Development and mayors of some villages participated in the seminar ”The School of Village” in Modrá (the Czech Republic) in June. The seminar focused on general problems of the Programme of a Village Restoration implementation. Our neighbours in the Czech Republic found out very quickly that rural area was the basis in which current progress in all economic branches rests. The government creates conditions for all activities that have something common with rural area and does its best to ensure sufficient funds for their implementation. The substance of the present state of the Czech rural areas is environmental policy implementation even on the lowest managerial level and mainly preferring of public interests to private ones. In our country too, the efforts to solve problems of rural areas development are visible, however the complexity and the state and society’s participation is missing.
