Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute – the service for population and users

The main task of SHI is the monitoring of quantitative and qualitative parameters characterising the state of air and water in the Slovak Republic; collection, validation, assessment, filing and interpretation of data and information on the state and regime of air and waters; study and description of processes in atmosphere and hydrosphere. The Institute co-operates with all neighbouring countries and with the countries of Central and Western Europe within  the World Meteorological Organisation. SHI belongs to the most active contributors to the project of establishment the egional Centre for Numerical Modelling of the Weather for Central Europe in Prague, that was built and is operated by the group of countries (Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Slovakia). In the recent past SHI developed for Slovakia the analysis of climatic change consequences within the common American – Slovak project.
