National Strategy of the Sustainable Development

The Slovak Republic approved the accession to the Rio Declaration and to the Agenda 21 in 1992. Since 1996 it has been the member of the Commission for Sustainable Development established within UNO. According to the UNO requirements all member states should develop national strategies of sustainable development by 2002. For this purpose the Governing Committee for National Strategy of Sustainable Development has been established in the Slovak Republic. The strategic objective of the National Strategy of the Sustainable Development is to address economic, social and environmental requirements and needs of their institutional implementation. The document will be submitted for the approval of the National Council of the Slovak Republic in the first half of 2001.
