Waste import, export and transit according to the new Waste
Act
Rather a big portion of the Waste Act is devoted to the transboundary movement
of waste. It regulates, in a detailed way, import, export and transit of waste and is in
compliance with the Council Regulation No. 259/93/EEC On the supervision and control of
shipments of waste within, into and out of the European Community. Wastes
intended for recovery have been classified, for the purposes of management, control and
records of import, export and transit, with three lists (the green, yellow and red list of
wastes) according to hazardousness. The Waste Act prohibits the import and export of some
types of wastes.
