The free access to environmental information and the public interest in environmental information is a significant element of the society's ecologization. The Constitution of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak legislation proclaim the right of each Slovak inhabitant on timely and complete information about the state of the environment and reasons and consequences of this state. Media have a very important role in environmental ideas spreading. They assist in the implementation of environmental policy objectives, of new legislation and bring information about environmental problems from various points of view.
