Rhinoceros “Ceratotherium simum”  - the last Mohicane of African savanna

Rhinoceros “Ceratotherium simum” is the critically endangered animal. It is the second largest terrestrial mammal after the elephant and the largest African rhinoceros. It is also called the white rhinoceros and is a typical representative of grassy savanna with groups of trees or bushes. The author describes the body construction of rhinoceroses, conditions of their life, social relations among individuals and the rescue of this species in wilderness and in captivity. In Slovakia, rhinoceroses are bred in Bratislava ZOO.
