5^th June – The World Environment Day

This year, the Earthc s inhabitants commemorate the 10^th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, which was held in Rio de Janeiro, and this year also, in August, the World Summit on the Sustainable Development will take place in Johannesburg. Slovakia has incorporated principles of the Declaration adopted in Rio in 1992 in Programme Declarations of individual Slovak governments and in various strategies and programmes. The article informs about results and trends achieved and implemented in Slovakia in the field of environmental protection during the last ten years.
