Institute of Applied Ecology and Peter Straka / MoE SR NATURA 2000 – the new programme of the state nature protection
The term NATURA 2000 means a specific system of protected areas of the European importance. Through this system, the rarest and most endangered species of plants, wild animals and selected biotopes, which occur at the EU territory, have been protected. Their list is the component part of legislation. EU member and candidate states are obliged to identify the most valuable areas with the occurrence of selected plant and animal species and biotopes and to ensure their legal protection. |
