Priorities of the Government of the Slovak Republic in the environmental sector for the period of time after the last election include institutional issues including implementation of those regulations, which were adopted in the previous election period. In the field of territorial environmental protection the efforts are directed towards gradual integration of all regulations relating to territory. They include land planning, nature protection and, since 2003, also water protection as a whole. Within the environmental legislation the Waste Act, the Act on Environmental Impact Assessment and the Act on the Environment will be updated and the new Act on Integrated Prevention and Pollution Control will be adopted.
