The new Waste Act no. 223/2001 Coll. has incorporated new, more precise methods of waste recovery and disposal in the legislative practice. The article explains the substance of these “new” methods. The new methods of waste disposal, which use knowledge from biology and connected scientific disciplines, include land treatment (e.g. biodegradation of liquid or sludge discards in soils). It is based on genetic and metabolic diversity of micro-organisms and serves for the transformation of contaminants into less harmful or non-harmful products that are afterwards integrated in natural bio-geo-chemical cycles.
