The aluminium production in the ZSNP Works in Žiar nad Hronom gave rise to specific health-hygienic problems of the factory workers and also population in the area of the emission from this factory in the Žiar hollow. The health and governmental authorities started to solve this problems several years after the production started. The authors of this article write about this topic in order to inform the population. They analyse the problem of air and drinking water quality, harmlessness of foodstuffs, noise and radiation.
