Cultural landscape becomes a fashionable part of environmental protection. It is discussed in various political and expert forums. World organisations include cultural landscape in the sphere of their interest (UNESCO, UNEP, Conference of the Parties to UN Convention on Biological Diversity). Alongside cultural and natural heritage there is a new category of cultural-natural heritage in the List of World Heritage that covers particularly valuable and interesting cultural landscape. As in the developed world also in Slovakia cultural landscape becomes one of the top priorities of nature protection and category of planning. Culture of land use should be considered a decisive factor of the quality of environment and, at the same time, an important component of a nation' s cutural heritage. |
