Environmental Academy – the platform for the lifelong education towards sustainable development

The strategy of the complex environmental education of population :The Environmental Academy” is being developed by the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic in co-operation with the Ministry of Education, universities and NGOs. It consists of 7 chapters that inform about objectives and intentions and about differences between formal and informal environmental education. Individual parts of the strategy are devoted to a brief analysis of work places in relation to university graduates in the field of ecology and environmental sciences and to the evaluation of scientific and research possibilities in order to improve the state of the environment. The last chapter evaluates legal bases of environmental education and stipulates measures to achieve the set objectives. The strategy will be submitted to the government for approval in the first half of 2001.
