Significant reduction of emissions from the Harmanec Paper Mill

Significant improvement of the environment was recorded last year in the Harmanec Paper Mill. This joint stock company has significantly reduced the use of heavy oil for heat production and has replaced it with natural gas. At the same time costs of energy production decreased in more than 20 mill. Sk and the taxes to the State Environmental Fund decreased in 88%. In 2000, the significant reduction of pollutants was recorded in Harmanec: annual emission of SO2 from 11.2 t to 0.6 t and solid particulate matters from 10.7 t to 0.04 t.
