The Government of the Slovak Republic has adopted, in compliance with the strategy of the European Union and documents of the European quality support policy from 1994, the resolution No. 673/1998 by which it launched the National Quality Programme for the SR till 2003 (Programme). By this document the Slovak Government undertakes to enforce the complex quality policy. A component part of the Programme is the competition „National Prize of the SR for the Quality“.  It is the Institute for Standardisation, Metrology and Testing of the SR that is responsible for the whole field of quality. The Ministry of Environment of the SR has developed for 2002 the Plan of Activities for the National Quality Programme implementation. It includes the 8th international conference „Environmental Protection Technology“ focused on wastes, the project „The Analysis of Technical Facilities of Authorised and Accredited Bodies in the SR“ from the point of view of testing methods implementation in relation to Council Directive 1980/2000/EC on Eco-labelling of products in the SR, etc.
