In the Slovak Republic, products environmental labelling of the type I has been carried out within the National Programme approved by the Resolution of the Slovak Government No. 97 from 6 February 1996 with the force from 15 April 1997. The documentation of the National Programme has been developed in accordance with the Council Regulation No. 880/1992/EEC. The national label „Environment Friendly Product“ is being awarded to products that apply for this label and comply with environmental criteria for groups of products stipulated in relevant directives of the Programme (18 directives have been developed up till now). The article brings environmental characteristics of some product groups and comparison with criteria of the European Eco-labelling Programme. The level of environmental criteria is raising as a result of the implementation of the product?s life cycle assessment method (LCA) according to ISO 14040 standards. Schemes of the set environmental criteria according to LCA for the „footwear“ and „bed linen“ product groups of the European eco-labelling programme are used as the application example. |
