The author of the article presents here the outstanding Danish natural scientist Benedikt Gullach who has been living in Slovakia since 2000. From 1992 until 2000, B. Gullach initiated several Danish – Slovak projects for secondary school teachers in biology and English, environmental directors from municipalities and   foresters.
The attention is paid here mainly to the SLOWAED project, the objective of which was an attempt to create a unique connection of environmental education at the gymnasiums in Holstebro and Poprad and waste water treatment of the municipalities in the same two towns. An attempt to open the schools towards society  and to make a cooperation possible between related subjects within this education in the two schools.
