The project "Regional Environmental Management Plan" (REMP) is conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the form of a development study.
In November 1997 the agreement about cooperation "Scope of Works" was signed between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Slovak Environmental Agency (SEA). This agreement specifies the study area and scope of works of the REMP project .

Participating organizations: Japan International Cooperation Agency - JICA, Pacific Consultans International (PCI), Oyo Corporation, WS Atkins, Slovak Environmental Agency, Geological Survey of the Slovak Republik (GSoSR), Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHI), Soil Fertility Research Institute (SFRI), Forest Research Institute (FRI), Regional Office - Department of Environment in Nitra, Regional Office - Department of Environment in Banska Bystrica and other important organizations in the region.
The coordinator for the Slovak side is the Slovak Environmental Agency.
