SLOVAK FOLK CULTURE THROUGH AMATEUR EYES

Upon successful completion of the Parabow Project we, |Slovak partners, inspired greatly by the project results and very positive feedback having been received on our website, decided to continue in the already well-established site being enjoyed both by professionals and general public/folk craftsmanship enthusiasts. Our team has been joined by another "volunteer," whose assisstance, devotion and amateur "expertise" is greatly welcome and appreciated. I must say that we are all professionally trained in various walks of life rather than etnography, folklore science or history but take very keen interest in sadly slowly disappearing folk traditions, customs, craft wisdom and beliefs. We strongly feel something should be done to preserve this unique national heritage for further generations to come.As there already are a few well-designed Slovak websites, and following our project experience, we determined our page to be grossly in English to allow foreign folk traditions and craft lovers to learn more about our priceless heritage in the same way as we were enthusiastically discovering folk treasures of Europe.

This page will be mostly focused on various craft and artisan's skills, generally completed by folk customs, wisdom, beliefs, traditional way of life, folk art and some basic recipies and instructions. The choice is plentiful so the site will be under permanent reconstruction, as we all are working on it in our free time.

Any comments, suggestions, "improvement" ideas and contributions would be greatly welcome. Of course, any inquires would be dealt with to the best of our knowledge.

Please, send inquires to:
