Aim
To help the SEA clarify corporate policy and aims and
ensure its viability, and to support a methodology of planning and delivering activity to
meet those aims through a network of 5 SEA Centres.
Objectives
- To train SEA managers to manage staff and resources
professionally in delivering the objectives of Slovak Environmental Agency through the
transfer of skills from UK trainers and in partnership with the Field Studies council.
- To introduce systematic re-assessment of corporate aims and
policies.
- To support corporate project planning and delivery
methodologies, with emphasis on working with clients and sponsors for the benefit of
communities.
- To build the capacity of SEA to support the management and
development of other environmental education centre networks.
Timescale
1 April 2001 – 31 March 2004
Target Group
The main target group is key members of
staff in the SEA environmental education network – SEA Head Office staff, Centre
Managers and Staff.
Outcomes
- SEA will identify current organisational objectives and
provide effective support structures and systems for viable network of local centres.
- SEA Centre Managers and staff newly trained to deliver the
organisational objectives of SEA.
- Centre Managers trained to produce Business Plans, Marketing
Plans and detailed annual Action Plans, Quality in Action training programmes for the
staff of each Centre.
- SEA Managers produce a corporate marketing plan.
- SEA to produce a human resource strategy for the
appointment, training and professional development of Centre staff.
- Centre staff trained in effective environmental education
methodologies, programme and activity development.

- 4 – days Training for development of Business Plans
- 4 – days Training for development of Marketing Plans,
feedback from first Business Planning Workshop
- 4 – days Training for Fundraising and Proposal Writing
- 4 – days Training for Quality in Action and Eco Centre
- Workshop for Centre Managers
- Meeting with nongovernmental and state organisations dealing
with environmental education
1 April 2002 – 31 March 2003 (Year 2)
- 4 – days Training for Environmental Education outside the
classroom, planing and delivering activities outside the classroom (topics: theory of
environmental education and learning, ecosystems practical, educational trails)
- 4 – days Training for Environmental Education outside the
classroom, planing and delivering activities outside the classroom (topics: parts of the
environment, indicators of quality of the environment, eco games)
- Creating of the manual Theory and practice of Environmental
Education outside the classroom
- Creating of programme offers of the Centres of Environmental
Education SEA
- Publicity of the Centres of Environmental Education on SEA
web page and in the journal Enviromagazin
- To submit the project proposal Bright Sparks an Energy
Education programme to Small Grant Scheme of the British Embassy
- Purchase of fieldwork equipment for the Centre of
Environmental Education Drieňok Teplý Vrch supported through Peace Corps fund
- Training of trainers – workshop for teachers – Working
with children out of doors
Plans for the Year Three of the Project
1 April 2002 – 31 March 2003 (Year 3)
- Further training of Centre Managers, both SEA and other
networks, to address needs identified in Year Two
- Training of trainers – workshop for teachers – Working
with children out of doors
- Creation of Eco Centre in Centre of Environmental Education
in Teplý Vrch
- Review Workshop - a confirmation of what achieved –
commitment to policies, strategies and mechanisms to underpin the future of the network
