Long - term trends of annual air temperature (T) and precipitation totals (R) recorded at the climatological observatory Hurbanovo (south Slovakia) within the period 1871-1996 are shown in the next figure. From the beginning of our century an increasing linear trend of T by about 1.2 0 C and decreasing trend of R by about 55 mm were observed. Increase in temperature and decrease in precipitation is more characteristic for the southern part of Slovakia. Also decrease in relative air humidity in south-west of Slovakia and decrease in the snow cover were observed in the lowlands and mountain areas. The main reasons of climate change are combustion of fossil fuels, agriculture, waste disposal and industry .
Long - term trends of annual air temperature means (T) and precipitation totals of warm half - year (R) at the climatological observatory Hurbanovo
