Slovakia is a sovereign, democratic and legal country.
It is not tied to any ideology or religion.
People are free and equal in dignity as well as rights. Basic rights and freedoms can not be revoked or cancelled.
 
 

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC

The Slovak Republic was established on January 1th 1993 after the peaceful split of the former Czecho-Slovakia into two independent sovereign countries. It is inhabited by 5.4 million people, 85.7% being of Slovak nationality (1996). According to the Constitution of the Slovak Republic, it is a country with guaranteed human rights and freedoms, political rights, rights of ethnic minorities and ethnic groups, economic, social, and cultural rights, right to the protection of the environment and cultural heritage, and with the right to court and other legal protection.
The only constitution-making and law-making body of the Slovak Republic is the National Council of the Slovak Republic (NCSR), which consists of 150 members of parliament. The Head of State is the President and supreme executive power is the Government of the Slovak Republic. The environmental protection is provided by the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic (MESR).
