The highest point: Gerlachovský peak (2,655 m a.s.l.) in the Tatry NP.

The lowest point: the Bodrog river on the state border with Hungary (93.8 m a.s.l )

Geomorphologic provinces 4 provinces divided into 17 areas, consisting of 84 geomorphologic units.
      1. Western Carpathians (Inner and Outer -10 areas),
      2. Eastern Carpathians (Inner and Outer - 3 areas),
      3. Western Pannonian basin (Vienna basin and Small Danubian basin - 3 areas), .
      4. Eastern Pannonian basin (Great Danubian basin -1 area).

Altidude diferentation

Altitude difference of the relief: 2,561m in a distance of 153 km.

The best preserved glacial relief: in the geomorphologic unit of the Tatry (the Tatry NP).

The largest area of blown sands: Bor on the Záhorská lowland (partly the Záhorie PLA).

The largest glacial valleys: the Bielovodská valley NNR (the original glacier was 14.4 km long) and the Tichá valley NNR (more than 13 km) in the Tatry NP.

The largest inactive volcano: Poľana (1,458 metres a.s.l.) in the Poľana PLA.

The largest remains of lava cover: Medvedia - Mačacia - Pohanský hrad in the Cerová highland PLA.

The largest columnal separation of basalts: Stonefall (12 m) in the Šomoška NNR.

The largest lowlands: the Danubian lowland (12,000 km2) and the East Slovak lowland (4,000 km2).

The largest river island: Žitný island on the the Danubian lowland (1,236.12 km2).

The largest hollows: The South Slovak and Košická hollows.

The largest ravine: Zádielska valley NNR in the Slovak karst PLA (a maximum depth of 400 m, a minimum width of 10 m, length of 3 km).

The highest rock mushroom: Markušovský rock mushroom (a height of 8 m, a diameter of 4 m) in the Markušovský walls NNM.

The largest rock window: in the Ohnište NNR in the Low Tatry NP (a height of 19 m, a width of 10 m).

Karst area: 2,700 km2 (5.5 % of the country's area).

The largest karst plain: the Silická plain in the Slovak karst PLA.

Caves and abysses: 3,816 - all protected as NM since 1995.

The deepest cave: Starý hrad in the Low Tatry NP (-432 m).

The longest cave system: the Demänovské caves NNM in the Low Tatry NP (24 km).

The largest cavern: Rozprávkový dóm in the Stratenská cave in the Slovak Paradise NP (an area of 9,040 m2 and a volume of 79,017 m3).

The largest ice cave: the Dobšinská ice cave NNM in the Slovak Paradise NP (an ice volume of 110,132 m3, a width of 26.5 m).

The most unique cave: the Ochtinská aragonite cave NNM - a world heritage site (WHS). The highest stalagmite: 32.4 m in the Krásnohorská cave
                                           NNM  (WHS) in the Slovak karst PLA.
