City Passenger Transport

Road traffic is one of the major environmental problems facing cities because of (a) increasing levels of car ownership, (b) modal transfer from public transport to car, and (c) the decentralisation of population and employment from the inner to outer areas.
In addition to traffic-related air pollution and noise problems, large cities share growing concern for traffic congestion and accidents which are increasingly deteriorating the quality of life of urban communities. Improvement of public transport plays role in reducing car use and accidents. Public transport systems can be promoted by integrated networks of rapid tramps, subways, buses and trains.
