Persistent organic pollutants (POP) in ambient air in selected areas of the SR were studied by PHARE Project (EU/93/AIR/22): „Local Studies of Air Quality in the Cities of Bratislava and Košice - National Needs Assessment of Air Pollution“ to be solved in 1996 - 1998 by Anton KOČAN, Helena UHRINOVÁ, Ján PETRÍK, Jana CHOVANCOVÁ and Beata DROBNÁ (Institute of Preventive and Clinical Medicine, GC/MS Laboratory, Limbová 14, 933 01 Bratislava, Slovak Republic)

Ambient air samples were collected at 14 sites as shown in Table 1. Levice and Topoľníky can be considered as agricultural areas and Starina as background area. Remaining sampling sites are situated in areas which are considered as polluted regions (non-attainment areas).
